Role

Translated game designers’ requirements into player-friendly solutions, Competitive analytics, Wireframes, Prototype

Background

  • Rainbow Six Mobile needed features to address underperformance in D14 and D30 player retention.

  • A login calendar—offering daily rewards to encourage players to enter the game—is a common feature in mobile AAA titles. However, the existing calendar in R6M was structurally limited to a fixed 7-day format.

Challenge

  • Players must be able to quickly and intuitively recognize rewards without spending significant time exploring the feature.

  • Game designers needed flexibility to configure durations from 7 days to up to 2 months.

  • The system had to support changing visual concepts for general use and special events.

Feature Highlights

Redesigned the layout to a mobile-friendly vertical format

  • Designed a layout that displays all rewards at a glance, adaptable for anywhere from 7 to 30+ days, based on analysis of patterns from over six other mobile games.

  • For version 2, positioned the feature within the Event feature rather than Missions to provide more natural navigation (Player’s I.A), and for seasonal calendars, added a redirection button from the Main Menu.

  • Provided a customizable background area for visual variety without altering core UI elements. It can adapt thematic skins for seasonal events to increase novelty and engagement without impacting usability.

  • Allowed players to view detailed reward information in the same consistent format used elsewhere in the game.

Outcomes

  • Currently launched and under performance tracking, with expected uplift in D14 and D30 retention.
